Review Policy

To authors/publishers/publicists: The Book Lady’s Blog focuses primarily on literary fiction, creative nonfiction, and memoir but is expanding to include a variety of genres. I prefer titles for adult readers and generally do not read or review books for children or young adults. I accept galleys and books for review at my discretion.

Please be aware that you are submitting a book for consideration and that my acceptance of a review copy is not a promise a) that I will review the book or b) that my review will be positive.

 

Caveats: I have an e-reader and am happy to accept PDFs and e-books for review. At this time, I do not accept self-published books or books that are only available in digital format for review.Visit my Book Reviews page to get a more specific idea of my reading and reviewing style.

Coverage: If I do not finish a book I have accepted for review, I may offer it to another blogger for whom it might be a better fit.  I reserve the right to blog about my reasons for not finishing a book.  Again, my acceptance of a review copy is not a guarantee that I will review your book.

The Book Lady’s Blog gets an average of 1,500-1,800 hits per day (with an additional 1,000ish RSS subscribers), for about 40,000-55,000 page views per month. I am active on Twitter and frequently promote reviews and discuss books I’m reading with more than 10,000 followers.

Disclosure: I work as the associate editor for FridayReads and do not review or issue editorial opinions about books we are paid to promote in that venue.

Pitches/Queries: Because of the overwhelming number of inquiries I receive, I am very selective in my acceptance of galleys and review copies, and I am not able to respond to every request. If you don’t hear from me regarding a specific title, please feel free to contact me again in the future.

Etc. As my schedule allows, I also enjoy featuring author interviews, guest posts, and other creative content that gives my readers a unique look at a book, author, or aspect of publishing.
