To authors/publishers/publicists: One of my priorities as a blogger is to be aware of new and upcoming releases and to share them with my readers. I am willing to accept galleys and books for review at my discretion, and I do my best to read and review books as close to their release dates as possible. I write thorough and honest reviews. There is no guarantee for a positive review.

With 2-3 months notice, I can schedule a review on or near a book’s publication date. Books received after their publication dates will usually be reviewed within 3 months of receipt.

Please be aware that you are submitting a book for consideration and that my acceptance of a review copy is not a promise to review.

My Reading Preferences: I am most interested in literary fiction, memoir, and narrative nonfiction titles.  I also enjoy books related to feminism and women’s studies and those that have social and political salience. I generally do not read mysteries, romance, science fiction, fantasy, women’s fiction, or chick-lit, but I don’t believe in setting hard and fast rules about reading. If you have a literary thriller or a great book with sci-fi/fantasy overtones, or something so outstanding that readers of any genre will love it, I want to know about it.

Caveats: At this time, I am not accepting PDFs, e-books, or self-published books for review.Visit my Book Reviews page to get a more specific idea of my reading and reviewing style.

Coverage: I aim to review every book I finish. If I do not finish a book I have accepted for review, I may offer it to another blogger for whom it might be a better fit.  I reserve the right to blog about my reasons for not finishing a book.  Again, my acceptance of a review copy is not a guarantee that I will review your book on my blog.

I cross-post book reviews to LibraryThing and will consider requests to cross-post at online retailers as well.

The Book Lady’s Blog gets an average of 1,200-1,500 hits per day, for about 35,000 to 40,000 page views per month. I am active on Twitter and frequently promote reviews and discuss books I’m reading with more than 3,000 followers.

Pitches/Queries: Because of the overwhelming number of inquiries I receive, I am very selective in my acceptance of galleys and review copies, and I am not able to respond to every request. If you don’t hear from me regarding a specific title, please feel free to contact me again in the future.

Etc. As my schedule allows, I also enjoy participating in blog tours, author interviews and guest posts, giveaways, and other creative content that gives my readers a unique look at a book, author, or aspect of publishing.
