Introducing The Book Lady’s Community!

A lot of exciting things have happened in the 2 1/2 years since The Book Lady’s Blog was born, but this is one of the biggest ones yet (I mean, if appearing on the internet in your underwear is just another day at work), and I am thrilled to announce it. I’ve partnered with Lunch.com to found The Book Lady’s Community!

The community is a way to go beyond the comments area of a blog to rate books, create and share (or import) your own reviews, ask questions, make polls, and engage with other people who are passionate about books.  I love the level of engagement that Lunch.com makes possible, and when they offered me the opportunity to lead the launch of their “Lunch To Go” platform, I knew I couldn’t pass it up. After all, if I can’t meet all of you in person, what could be better than having a multi-faceted virtual space for it?

I can’t wait to continue the conversations we’ve begun here and to meet some of you who maybe haven’t commented on a blog before but feel more comfortable with something as user-friendly as the Lunch interface (which you can sign into using your Facebook info).  I know that only about 10% of my readers have their own blogs, and I’m sure the rest of you have opinions to share, so come on over! It’s a low-stress, no-pressure way to chime in and get connected with people who love books just as much as you do.

I’m now in the process of importing some of my favorite reviews. In the meantime, I hope you’ll check out these polls based on my year-end “best of” lists about genre busters and literary fiction, share what you’re reading for FridayReads, get quick tips, read reviews, and start contributing your own.  As things get rolling, I’ll be featuring community reviews here on the blog, and I’m excited to experiment with all of the cross-over possibilities.

I owe a very big thank you to all of you who read and support The Book Lady’s Blog and who have made this possible, and, of course, a major shout-out to the awesome team at Lunch.com for providing the perfect space.

Consider this an open invitation to come by, take a look around, and get comfortable.  There’s a fancy new “Community” tab in the navigation bar at the top of my homepage now, and you can just clickety-click your way to bookish happiness whenever the mood strikes….which I certainly hope will be sooner rather than later.
