I’m Rebecca Joines Schinsky, and this is my blog.

The Book Lady’s Blog features reviews of literary fiction, narrative nonfiction,  and some memoirs. You’ll also find recaps of author events and my take on publishing industry news and issues. I am a proud member of the National Book Critics Circle, a Shelf Awareness reviewer, and I sit on the board of directors of James River Writers.

I have a major thing for novels with multiple lines of narrative, the opposite of a thing for Nicholas Sparks, a deep appreciation of well-placed snark, and a dream of making #pantyworthy a trending topic on Twitter.

I’m proud to have formed a partnership with my local independent booksellers at Fountain Bookstore that was the inspiration behind the Get in Bed With a Book Blogger campaign launched by SIBA in May 2010, and I am one-third of Bookrageous! and the associate editor of #FridayReads.
