Read More Sexy Books! [Bookrageous Takes on Romance & Erotica]
2011 at 5am Posted by Rebecca Joines Schinsky
So, I’ve been testing the waters of romance and erotica (literally—this book is waterproof. Those are bubble bath bubbles!), and the latest episode of the Bookrageous podcast got my TBR list all kinds of hot and bothered.
Sarah Wendell of Smart Bitches, Trashy Books and romance/erotica writer Rachel Kramer Bussel joined Jenn and me for an awesome discussion of naughty books. And if you don’t think romance and erotica are for you, let us try to convince you. Also: double entrendres abound!
Listen, enjoy, subscribe, and share your favorite frisky books in the comments. Show notes (with links to all books discussed) after the jump.

OK so I guess I’ve never tried Erotica, but I’ve never felt like I need to because some of the most innocuous books have these hidden landmines in them. Take, for example, the Stone Barrington crime series (written by Stuart Woods). This guy gets nooky in every book, from a whole variety of women. And his activities can be pretty graphic. I remember in one book, one of his women put her fingers in certain places, and Mr. Barrington admitting to liking it. In a crime novel! That raised my eyebrows.
I’m definitely going to have to check this out as I’ve been craving a good romance recently. I just requested about five different romance authors from the library and am really looking forward to the books coming in.

I see that Louise Erdrich is one of the writers in Aqua Erotica? I didn’t know she wrote ‘sexy books’. I just finished Shadow Tag. Fantastic.
While depending on the reader, erotica and romance may seem to be one and the same. My question is: where do we exactly draw the line between erotica and all-out Fabio romance?

I’ve got a feeling I really need to rush to the bookstore now. Do Anne Rice books count as erotica by the way?
