“A literary thriller with cancer as the protagonist…”

Sounds fascinating, right? That’s how Scribner’s Nan Graham described Siddhartha Mukherjee’s The Emperor of All Maladies during the Book Expo America Editor’s Buzz panel last week.
I felt like I lost my innocence a little bit trying to fight against the hordes to snag a galley of this after the panel, but it was so worth it. Here’s an excerpt of the copy on the back of this book I can’t wait to read.
In The Emperor of All Maladies, Siddhartha Mukherjee, physician, researcher, and award-winning science writer, examines cancer with a cellular biologist’s precision, a historian’s perspective, and a biographer’s passion. The result is an astonishingly lucid and eloquent chronicle of a disease humans have lived with—and perished from—for more than five thousand years.
Of Mukherjee, Graham said, “the breadth of his knowledge is dazzling.”
