#fountainreads Reminder: CUTTING FOR STONE 3/31
2010 at 8am Posted by Rebecca Joines Schinsky
Abraham Verghese’s Cutting for Stone was one of my favorite books of 2009—it was so good, in fact, that it rendered me inarticulate—and I cannot wait to re-read it this week and discuss it next Wednesday, March 31st, at 7pm Eastern for the #fountainreads Twitter book discussion sponsored by Fountain Bookstore.
Whether you’re here in Richmond or halfway around the world, you’re invited to join us for what promises to be an excellent conversation.
If you’re new to Twitter and want to join the #fountainreads conversation, it’s very simple.
- Create a Twitter account if you don’t already have one.
- Go to www.tweetchat.com and sign in with your Twitter username and password.
- Enter “fountainreads” into the hashtag search box. This will create a page that essentially serves as a chatroom so you can follow the discussion without having to filter it through the rest of your Twitter.
Cutting for Stone is a long one, but the payoff is so worth the time investment, and if you’re like me, you won’t be able to put it down anyway. Let’s hope that this time around, at least, I’ll be able to have a coherent conversation about it!
Hope to see you for #fountainreads next Wednesday! Hit me up on Twitter if you have any questions.

Inarticulate huh? That is something, because you are usually VERY articulate! It has been on my list forever, but I will admit I’ve passed it by because of its size. I can’t read too many chunksters in a row, or I start to feel unproductive. I promise to make room in my schedule for it!
It has the page count of a chunkster, but you will not want to put it down. I think I read it in 4 days.
That twitter chat sounds interesting, what other books will be discussed?
I mean in the months to come…
We’re thinking of China Mehville’s THE CITY AND THE CITY for May….but really, we’re making it up as we go along, so the next one will be announced after the CUTTING FOR STONE discussion.
I’m REALLY going to try to get this one read by next Wed. No promises, but I think I can do it!
