Teaser Tuesdays: In the Sanctuary of Outcasts

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

I’m currently about halfway through Neil White’s memoir In the Sanctuary of Outcasts (click cover in right sidebar for info), which chronicles his experience in a white collar prison that doubled as America’s last leper colony. From page 84:
I was participating in a new kind of community. Prisoners and leprosy patients might have been considered outcasts by most of the world, but we were stuck here together. I was still a bit apprehensive about touching them, but I realized they wouldn’t want me handling their finances either.

Very nice teaser, it really describes the book quite nicely. I hope you’re enjoying it so far!
Interesting twist on his thoughts about them not wanting him to touch their money! Sounds like a very interesting read…thought provoking!
I like this teaser – there’s a touch of humor in it that I hadn’t anticipated given the somewhat morbid storyline.
