The Sunday Salon: 5.17.09

tssbadge1 This morning, I’m coming to the Salon from the comfort of my couch for the very first time. Hubby and I switched cable companies this week and got a free wireless router in the deal, so I’m pretty stoked. Now I can blog and read blogs without having to hole up in our office upstairs and feel disconnected from everything.  And hubby can sit right next to me and play games, update his fantasy baseball leagues, and read news online at the same time. It makes me happy.

It also means I feel comfortable being more plugged-in online because I don’t have to sacrifice face time at home, so I find I’m using Twitter more and may end up having to eat my words from a few weeks ago.  Oh well. You live, you learn. And I still won’t be on it 24/7 or put it on my phone. It’s all about balance, and as I get used to having greater online accessibility at home, I’ll have to find a new balance. But woohoo for finally having wireless!

This week was the quiet week in the middle of a very busy month, and I took advantage of it as best I could. I read and reviewed Who is Mark Twain? and The Senator’s Wife and shared an exciting announcement about one of my favorite authors. I also contemplated book gluttony, which is a condition many of us are familiar with.

Friday night, hubs and I watched The Wrestler and really enjoyed it. It was well-acted, the story was not pat or predictable, and we both felt that it was, overall, better than Slumdog Millionaire and some of the other big movies of the last year. Yesterday was all about relaxation. We started the day at our nephew’s soccer game–he scored 3 goals!— and spent the afternoon reading and napping. After delicious enchiladas and a peaceful evening walk with the pooch, I curled up to finish The Blue Notebook (review coming soon) while hubby watched baseball. All in all, a great weekend.

Now, it’s 11:35 and I’ve only been up for half an hour—hubs and puppy were quiet this morning and let me get 12 whole hours of sleep. I can’t remember the last time it happened, and let me tell you, it was glorious. The docket for today includes French toast, an afternoon with The Little Book (have you read it?), and as much laziness as possible.  It’s cool and rainy here, so I’m going to curl up and enjoy this perfect reading weather.

What are you up to this weekend? Did you read anything great this week that you are dying to share? I’d love to hear about it.

Happy Sunday, saloners!
