So, is this the sequel?
2009 at 6pm Posted by Rebecca Joines Schinsky

Seriously, a customer asked one of my coworkers that very question yesterday afternoon. I can’t even begin to count the ways in which that is just a huge FAIL!
He was tempted to respond, “Yes. Jane Austen has come back from the dead after 200 years, so she decided to use her newfound knowledge of the undead to write the sequel.”
I was going to save this for an Adventures in Bookselling post, but I couldn’t wait.
Happy Friday.

Actually, that really wasn’t such a bad question. Many authors have written lesser-known sequels to famous works. Daniel Defoe, for example, actually wrote two sequels to “Robinson Crusoe.” In other cases, sequels have been written later by other authors, as has been the case with Daphne Du Maurier’s “Rebecca.”
I love that image! Did you make it yourself? It looks like something from Something Awful’s Photoshop Phridays.
Hah! That’s great.
Wow. Just, wow.
That is….a very special patron your coworker had. At least it added something interesting to the day.
LMAO! That just made my day
Off topic (sort of) but I am just dying to find out which classic Seth tackles next!
haha. wow. I just got this book (my first ARC!) And only because it is my first ARC, I am going to try to get through it and review it. It’s going to be a very tough weekend.
OMG!! That was too funny!!
El Fay—nope, that’s an actual book with a cover created by someone much more talented than I.
Joanne–not at all off topic. In fact, we’ve been debating it around the store and have decided that Wuthering Heights & Werewolves and Sense and Sensibility & Sasquatch should be next.
Lyndale–please come back and let us know how it turns out.
Oh my…now that’s hilarious!
Thanks so much for sharing with us! I love reading about your experiences with bookselling; they always make me laugh.
I’m also dropping by to let you know that I’ve given you an award:

I have this book on my wishlist!
Haha! That’s such a funny question!
My copy just arrived in the mail Friday, can’t wait to read it!
Hee Hee! Questions like that always make me feel just a little bit smarter
Giving the benefit of the doubt, this customer was probably joking and just didn’t hit the punch-line hard enough. At least, let’s hope that was the case.
Biblibio, how I wish that were the case. But sadly, she was serious.
I really like that response…she used her new knowledge of the undead to write a sequel..lol hilarious.
I’ve seen a lot of jokes made about this book, but this is definitely the funniest story I’ve heard.
