Audrey Niffenegger sells new book!
2009 at 8am Posted by Rebecca Joines Schinsky
So, I opened up my email this morning and skimmed through today’s Shelf Awareness as I waited for my coffee to kick in.
ARC offers, bookstore updates, reviews, the usual…
Then I saw it: Audrey Niffenegger, author of The Time Traveler’s Wife, has sold the rights to her second novel Her Fearful Symmetry to Scribner after a heated bidding war. The book is slated for a late September release.
Woohooo!
The New York Times has all the details.
When I read The Time Traveler’s Wife a few months ago, I felt like I was the last person to finally read it (my review). And I won’t be letting that happen again, not if this new book even approaches being as good as the first.
So, here’s my open plea. I know it’s early. I know it will take a few more months for promotions to kick in. But if you work for Scribner or have access to ARCs, I definitely want one.
Until then, I’ll just keep dancing my little happy dance and looking forward to what promises to be a great book from a uniquely talented author.

Oh Yay!!!! I LOVED The Time Traveler’s Wife. It was just amazing. I’ll definitely be picking up her next one as soon as it comes out.
Woohoo! This is great news, Time Traveler’s Wife was imo a perfect book. September seems so far away, but I’m so excited
I haven’t read Time Traveler’s Wife so you are not the last person on the planet to read it. LOL. I guess I need to get right on it so I can be ready for September.
Oh this will definitely be on my reading list. I loved TTTW!
I’m just dropping by to let you know that I’ve given you an award! http://athomewithbooks.blogspot.com/2009/03/awards-roundup.html
Excellent! This has gone straight to my wishlist. I can’t wait!
Excellent news! I too loved the Time Traveler’s Wife and can’t wait for this new novel. Thanks for the heads up!
This book has already gone on my TBR. That being said, expectations are SO high for this book – I’m afraid I’m going to be disappointed!
Swapna—I totally know what you mean. I have really high hopes as well. Same goes for Carlos Ruiz Zafon’s new novel, due out in June. I can’t imagine anything living up to The Shadow of the Wind, but I still have hope.
I can’t believe I missed this in the SA email today! I loved The Time Traveler’s Wife and can’t wait to read her next book!
I was so thrilled to see this post! I am so thrilled to hear that AN has a new book coming out. ARC or no ARC, I’ll be reading this.
