I'm feeling the love!
2009 at 3pm Posted by Rebecca Joines Schinsky
Amy has given me this great award, which was created by Joanne at Book Zombie to help us celebrate the blogs we simply can’t wait to read. I have a lot of favorites, so I’ll just share a few of them today.
A Reader’s Respite: Michele’s posts are fun, interesting, and have a great variety. I love her reviews and always look forward to seeing her Diversifying My Bookshelves posts (like this one).
Bloody Hell, It’s A Book Barrage! Chartroose’s reviews are always funny and insightful, and you’ve just gotta love her Surfer Dude’s Guess That Gnarly Gnovel series.
Devourer of Books: Jen’s reviews are honest, concise, and to-the-point. We have pretty similar taste, and I always enjoy reading her reaction to something I’ve just read or am about to read.
The Boston Bibliophile: Marie’s reviews are well-written and always very interesting. She also features great author interviews and guest posts, and I really enjoy the variety of her reading selections.
There are many more that I love, but they will have to wait for another day.
I’m not sure whether Amy intended to give me this Kreativ Blogger Award as well, but I’m going to take it anyway because I want to do the fun 7 things meme that goes with it.

7 Things I Did Before
- Gymnastics (for about ten years)
- Got married in a library
- Went to grad school for a master’s in clinical psychology…well, it was supposed to be a doctorate, but on the way to finishing the master’s, I decided that being a therapist wasn’t for me. Hence, I became the Book Lady.
- Lived in Chicago (for college) and LOVED it
- Had a brief religious phase
- Read a lot of books.
- Dated a skater boy.
7 Things I Do Now
- Read a lot of books and a lot of blogs
- Blog
- Parent an adorable basset hound (and enjoy the fact that I don’t have kids)
- Find fun ways to aggravate my husband (who delights in aggravating me)
- Snuggle up with hubby in the evenings to watch our favorite shows on the DVR
- Yoga
- Spend all day in my jammies on Sundays
7 Things I Want to Do
- Plan a return vacation to Antigua. Gorgeous!
- Win the annual Valentine’s Day contest with hubby to see who can buy the tackiest card
- Go back to school
- Find other fields of work that allow me to continue promoting books and literacy
- Spend at least 2 weeks in New Zealand
- Write a great toast for my little sister’s wedding in June 2010
- Make a daily effort with my husband to create a marriage that is as happy and long-lasting as our parents’.
7 Things That Attract Me To Someone (I changed it from “to the opposite sex” to be more inclusive)
- Intelligence
- A great sense of humor
- Just the right amount of snark
- Confidence. There’s nothing sexier.
- Supportive/understanding
- Thoughtful (like, does the dishes even when I don’t ask him to!)
- Has his own life and interests and gives me time & space to enjoy mine.
7 Favorite Foods
- Pesto bruschetta from my favorite little Italian place
- Fettucine Alfredo
- Fazoli’s breadsticks
- Filet mignon, medium, with a loaded baked potato
- Pulled pork BBQ sandwich from KC Masterpiece or Buz & Ned’s
- Chicken fingers (I’m kind of a connoisseur)
- Does peppermint mocha count as a food?
7 Things I Say Most Often
- Wubbers (hubby’s and my nickname for each other…it is derived from several iterations of his original nickname for me, which I believe was bubby baby)
- Thanks for holding. This is Rebecca.
- WTF
- Holy sh!t, dude (I know, I know)
- Where’s the moose?/What’s the moose up to? (we call Millie the moose, and for those of you who haven’t been following along, Millie is a basset hound, not a child)
- Oh good grief
- No, I’m going to read.
Whew! Amy was right—it is hard to come up with 7 things for each of those categories. Feel free to tag yourself and play along.

Thank you for the great award! Now I have a few questions/comments about your 7 things meme:
You got married in a library–how cool is that!
What happened to your relationship with skater boy?
Fazoli’s breadsticks, yummm…and peppermint mocha, yummy decadence! I’m going to head to the coffee cart after this!
Holy shit, dude is perfect, and so is WTF. I say dude all the time and one of my favs is f*#k that shit, dude!
This was fun to read!
Thank you so much!!!
Love your meme here, too….I say many of the same things. Unfortunately, so now does my toddler. Ooops.
Answers for Char:
Yep, library wedding. Was very cool. You can see a few pics here and here.
Skater boy was my first boyfriend…we broke up about 11 years ago.
I’m so glad you know about Fazoli’s! We don’t have them in Richmond, so it’s always one of my first stops when I visit my parents. People don’t know what they’re missing.
And thanks for sharing some of your frequent phrases–glad to know I’m not the only one who enjoys a good curse word.
Congratulations on the award. Your blog is become more and more addictive. I enjoy your well-written reviews and the interesting stories from the bookstore.
Reading the little tidbits about you was lots of fun.
