Okay okay. I keep swearing that I’m not going to sign up for any more reading challenges, but this is one I just can’t resist. I’m almost beside myself with excitement for the LOST season premiere tomorrow night, and as a Lost junkie who loves to read (and who thinks it’s simply fabulous that such an entertaining show is also incredibly smart, relevant, and literary), I’m super excited about the LOST Books Challenge.

The rules are simple. Participants choose at least five books off the list of books related to LOST and read and review them before the series ends in 2010. That’s more than a year to read five books, people. And you know you want to do it. Amy has hosted a Lost reading challenge once before, but this revamped version has its very own blog where participants can cross-post their reviews and discuss all things LOST. Click the icon above to enter the challenge, or see book list here, here, or here.

I haven’t narrowed down my selections yet, but these are a few I’m considering:

  • Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass by Lewis Carroll
  • Lord of the Flies by William Golding (this would be a re-read and would tie in with Banned Books Week)
  • The Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky
  • Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret by Judy Blume
  • Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens
  • Island by Aldous Huxley
  • A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’Engle
  • The Epic of Gilgamesh (which is summarized in this hilarious post by Michele)
  • Hotel by Arthur Hailey
  • The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum

The list will most likely change (and lord knows I won’t read them all), but I will remain stoked about this challenge and a new site dedicated to bookish bloggers who love LOST.

If you love LOST, please join us for this great challenge. And if you have an hour (or ten) to lost, check out the glory that is Lostpedia.
