ok really, this is so stupid, people should just leave these books alone. its not like they have to read them, its just annyoing, if you think its inappropriate then dont read it, no one is forcing them to read it. get over yourselves and leave it alone.

This is the first book I remember falling in love with, and to hear the word banned and "The Giver" in the same sentence! Just seems very wrong.

Rebecca: I've been so busy this week that I think I forgot you told me you were going to read this too for Banned Books Week. Your teacher must have been quite a...dare I say it...maverick ;) to read that book to you when you were in sixth grade.

Here is my review, which pales in comparison to yours...of course, this was only my first time reading it so I was at quite a disadvantage. :)

Like any activity that stimulates thought, a child shouldn't be left to read a book like this alone - but adult laziness shouldn't be a reason to keep children from reading :) I have never read this book, but I definitely think I will order it - dear me, my Chapters shopping cart is filling up fast!
