August Reading Wrap-Up
2008 at 1pm Posted by Rebecca Joines Schinsky
How can it be September already? August flew by, and with a couple out-of-town trips and lots of airport time, I had a chance to do some pretty good reading. I wasn’t as crazy about as many of my reads this month as I was in July, but all in all, I’m happy with how August turned out. Here’s what I read and reviewed this month (click the cover to read my review):
While I had a hard time choosing a favorite last month, this time around, it’s pretty easy. The Handmaid’s Tale is far and away the best book I read in August and has earned a permanent place on my all-time-favorites list. But it’s not really fair to expect anyone to compete with Margaret Atwood, so I’ll name Matrimony as my other favorite fiction book this month and Why We Hate Us as my favorite nonfiction selection. It was awesome and has already become one of those “required reading for life” books that I’ll force onto anyone who looks remotely interested.
I hope you’re all having a wonderful Labor Day long weekend…I’m off to the airport to head back to Richmond.
