Congratulations on a very well written review of this lovely book. I heard about it on the radio and went straight out to get a copy at my local bookshop. I haven’t stayed up all night to finish a book since I don’t know when, but I couldn’t put this one down or go to sleep till I’d finished it. It is completely enchanting – sad, funny, heartwarming and full of fascinating details. I felt as though all the characters had become my friends, and I learned so much that I hadn’t known before about the German occupation of Guernsey during WW2. I can’t recommend it too highly. How sad that the author died before seeing it in print.

I just reviewed this book on my blog as well – and LOVED it! I have to admit, I wasn’t keen on reading it until I started it and couldn’t stop! GREAT, GREAT book!
