I have some comments. Considering the part about the newborn vampires. They don't attack Bella because she smells good. It's because Victoria, (Mate to James) created them and telling them they needed to destroy the strange 'yellow-eyes' (Cullen Clan) to get all the blood in Forks, when in actualality she just wanted to get the coven out of the way so she can kill Bella for revenge. And i also want to add that Stephanie Meyer never actaully read Bram Stroker's Dracula and only had a small general idea of what Vampires where in the modern wall. Who are we to say what is right or wrong in a world where we can destroy the walls of reality and build walls of our own.
But this is just my opinion, sure to be as flawed as anyone else's.

This sounds like a series of books I'm glad I've never been tempted to read. I've never read any vampire books, but maybe I should at least read Bram Stoker?

After "Dracula," I've never really been able to read any other vampire books. I tried a couple of Anne Rice novels, but couldn't finish them. I know vampires are very popular with young people right now, but I don't really understand the phenomenon. I could never get through the Meyer series, even if my job did depend on it!

Welcome to the Salon - I think you'll find it's a very enjoyable way to spend a Sunday.
