Hello, world!
2008 at 1pm Posted by Rebecca Joines Schinsky
Well, after years of being a book junkie and reading other people’s blogs for reviews and recommendations, I’m finally making the jump into sharing my reviews and recommendations with others. I’m not sure why it took me so long. After all, I’ve been talking to people about books, sharing books with my friends, and spending most of my spare time reading for as long as I can remember. My love of books permeates every aspect of my life. I’ve always made time to read for pleasure, even during college and graduate school, when academic reading dominated an incredible amount of my time. My husband and I built our relationship going on “bookstore dates,” where’d wander for hours, making lists and whispering about our best discoveries over coffee and snacks. I got married in a library (the beautiful Kansas City Public Library, whose parking garage facade is featured at the top of my page), and I work in community relations for a major national bookseller. Books are part of my life every single day, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
If you investigated my bookshelves, you’d find a large collection of literary fiction, contemporary memoirs, and an eclectic smattering of nonfiction. If it looks interesting and engages my interest within the first 100 pages, I’ll read it….but if not, I’ll move on to something else because, quite simply, there are so many books and so little time.

Good luck with your blog. I look forward to reading your reviews since I love to read, too. The picture of the parking garage facade is great!
I love that you got married in a library!
I also feel like kind of a snob when it comes to reading. I feel like over the years I’ve become fairly well read; but, then again, I see some of these huge libraries on LT and I meet crazily well read people at my library, and I am humbled by the sheer volume of pages they have under their belts.
Well, all I can say is that I better get off the computer and get reading!
